Our Branch turns 40 !
A little piece of history...
The inaugural meeting of the Canterbury Branch was held on March 6th 1969 at the Combined Co-operative Distributers (CCD) 26-28 Tuam Street. CCD were egg distributers and egg pulp processors - this corner site now hosts a motor car business.
Stan Brooker, Chief Chemist of Abels Ltd, Auckland addressed the meeting on the "The Processing of Edible Fats".
63 members attended the meeting and another 30 expressed interest. Ron Hooker of TJ Edmonds Ltd was elected Foundation Chairman. Institute President, Bob Cawley (Wheat Research), also attended the meeting.
