Success stories

Some successful careers in food science, technology and engineering that also illustrate the wide variety of career options available in the food industry.

Kay McMath is a food scientist who has specialised in sensory evaluation, particularly in dairy products, becoming a leading judge at the NZ Ice Cream Awards, Massey Food Awards, and Juice & Beverage Awards. Kay is currently a Senior Lecturer in Massey University's Institute of Food, Nutrition and Human Health, Albany Campus. Kay McMath

Dr Chris Bloore Dr Chris Bloore is a food engineer specialising in milkpowder production, but also heavily involved in process automation and project management. Chris is currently a Dairy Industry Systems Consultant, based in Dunedin.

Dick Hubbard is a Food Technologist by training, one of the earliest graduates from the degree course in Food Technology started at Massey University in the 1960's. Dick and his wife Diana set up breakfast cereal manufacturing company Hubbard Foods in 1988, building the business and Hubbards cereals into Kiwi icons. Since 2004, Dick was the Mayor of Auckland City, 2004-2007. Dick Hubbard
