COURSE OUTLINE:
We write every day and whether a one line email or a several thousand word thesis it all matters. Your writing is the bridge to communicating successfully.

This workshop helps those with a technical background take their writing to a new level. It shows participants how to turn evidence-based information into user-friendly and appealing, but accurate, reading. It gives skill-sharpening tips, tricks and techniques you can use every day, challenging some of the well-established habits of scientific writing. Cutting the clutter and losing the jargon, whilst still retaining scientific credibility, is the key to being an effective nutrition communicator in this increasingly competitive, information-dominated world.

Writing is a necessity but writing well is an art and an asset. This workshop helps participants discover how. "

Fiona Carruthers began her career as a dietitian in the UK, working in many areas of dietetics from the 'womb to the tomb'. In 1998, Fiona become a marketing nutritionist with responsibilities for a variety nutrition communication programmes, followed by a short spell in healthcare public relations. She moved to New Zealand in 2001 to join Beef + Lamb New Zealand as Nutrition Manager. Fiona's experience has produced an ability to utilise scientific knowledge appropriately in a wide range of nutrition communications. As a result, she is also a freelance writer and, in 2007, received an NZ Guild of Food Writers' Culinary Quill Award.

$135 + GST for NZIFST Members (includes member subsidy)
$215 + GST for non-NZIFST members
Group discount: 2nd person saves 10%, 3rd person saves 15%
