At Penguino we will meet, greet and gather to hear Philip van der Waal’s exciting journey to the ice cream awards in 2009. Philip entered 5 products in the awards and received 4 medals. This was an outstanding achievement. We can sample Philip’s great winning products and other fabulous gelatos and sorbets.

We look forward to seeing you there, and bring along anyone else that you think would benefit from joining the group.
"Inspiration - Prosperity" - NZIFST Annual Conference 23-25 June 2010, Ellerslie Convention Centre, Auckland
“New events to look out for at the 2010 NZIFST conference include a networking session late Thursday afternoon where researchers, scientists and suppliers can meet food and ingredient companies to exchange opportunities for mutual business. Every aspect of the food business will be involved – from IP to packaging - so be sure to schedule this in your conference attendance.”
“Look out for the new Corporate Multipass at the NZIFST conference in June. Specifically designed to allow multiple entries (equal to 6 half day registrations), this new pass will give companies the flexibility to send different personnel to specific sessions on the same day – or for different personnel to attend over the 3 days. At a cost of $900 for 3 days – this represents a significant saving compared with full registration for 3 delegates for 3 days.”

Mutual Benefits
The University of Auckland’s Food Science Programme wishes to place post-graduate students with food companies in the Auckland area to undertake the preparation of a Food Safety Programme. The purpose of the exercise is to ensure that they understand the reason for the programme and the mechanics of putting a realistic programme in place. Placements will begin soon after 13 April and the final report is due to be handed in on 17 May. The student will be responsible for writing the programme and after induction should not need to take up too much of your time.
Undoubtedly the food companies themselves (particularly small-scale processors) will benefit from this input which is free of charge. The company receives the report and the outcomes remain confidential to the company, student and senior University staff.
If you are willing to assist a student in this manner, please contact Norman Lodge at norman.lodge@xtra.co.nz or telephone 476 5653 by 1 April 2010.
